What is transsexuality? Is it a disease? Will minors who do not conform to gender norms become transsexual adults? Do all trans people have a similar life path? How can transphobia be combated? This book is proposed as a tool for social change and uses the term trans*, with an asterisk, to emphasize the diversity of experiences of people who go beyond the norms prescribed as typical of women and men, highlighting the rigidity of the binary system in which we live. Concrete strategies are proposed, such as a series of health factors that affect quality of life as well as community prevention and intervention against transphobia, and a qualitative study that shows the testimonies of trans* people of all ages, including minors, their families, and the professionals who support them. The second part of the book offers practical tools, such as group activities to understand the needs of trans* people and the stories of some individuals who in the past challenged their sex assigned at birth. The book closes with some recommended resources (films, shorts, books) and a glossary of terms.
