QUEER ARTISTS AND SONGS FOR FREEDOM AND RESPECT
Music as a banner of combat against sexual discrimination
From the first “queer” songs and the first “ballrooms” to the present, music linked to the LGBTQ+ movement has a history worth telling.
The proposal of this book, as daring as it is attractive, about a history of “queer” music, is written from the heart and illustrated with the colors and nuances that life offers us.
- Berlin, the cultural epicenter of the twenties for the “queer” community.
- Leonard Bernstein, the insatiable sexual appetite of the author of West Side Story.
- Chavela Vargas, the free spirit who asked for moonlight for her sad night.
- Freddie Mercury, the “queen” and “queer” who wanted to be free.
- Mari Trini, a myth for the lesbian community in Spain.
- Samantha Hudson, from "faggot" to "mother" of those living on the margins of gender.
