This book brings us up to date on the issue of the Hispanic Baroque, actively recalling its unique worldview with the intention of preserving for us something of that Baroque that threatens to disappear with every present that does not recognize itself as part of it. A single imaginary, a forcibly unified symbolic world operated at that time, defined from the late 16th century until the 1720s or 1730s as a true climate, as a "sphere" within which interrelated points formed a system. It is worth adding about this political-psychological constellation that it was a "serene" system, which provided hypotheses not only for the very fact of the world and its historical development but also affirmed the possibility of glimpsing and assessing a meaning for that "other" world, which always constitutes a counter-image (and perhaps a specter) of this one. The cultural forces at work in that peculiar constellation suggest an explanation based on the fact of the supernatural's intrusion into the realm of everyday reality, manifesting in a thaumaturgic way in history.
