Gisele was just 18 when she made her breakthrough in 1998 at Alexander McQueen’s Ready-to-Wear “Rain” show. McQueen had chosen “The Body” for her ability to walk a slippery runway in sky-high heels. The following year, Steven Meisel photographed her for the cover of American Vogue. Her sun-kissed athletic beauty marked the return of the sexy model as a contrast to the grunge of the late ’90s.
