Gisele Bündchen: Fo
Taschen
Brazilian Gisele Bündchen grew up in humble rural conditions and became the most successful supermodel in the world. This volume showcases the most breathtaking glamour shots and numerous private photos from her 20-year career in the fashion industry.
Gisele was just 18 when she made her breakthrough in 1998 at Alexander McQueen’s Ready-to-Wear “Rain” show. McQueen had chosen “The Body” for her ability to walk a slippery runway in sky-high heels. Later that same year, she landed on the cover of British Vogue and quickly became the most sought-after cover girl of her generation. The following year, Steven Meisel photographed her for the cover of American Vogue. Her sun-kissed athletic beauty marked the return of the sexy model as a contrast to the grunge of the late ’90s. Since then, Gisele has appeared on over 1,000 covers worldwide, walked in about 450 fashion shows, and completed multinational campaigns for the biggest fashion and beauty brands in the world.
This volume, featuring over 300 images, was compiled and designed by Giovanni Bianco. From Irving Penn’s legendary nude photo, our cover image, to iconic shots by star photographers like David LaChapelle, Juergen Teller, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, and Corinne Day, this is a unique portrait of the woman who, alongside Pelé and Ayrton Senna, is Brazil’s most famous export and the highest-paid model in the world. The elegant visual compilation is complemented by contributions from Gisele’s closest friends and family as well as leading figures in the fashion industry.
Gisele Bündchen donates all proceeds from this publication to charitable causes.
