Gaynteligencia emocional: Más resilientes de lo que pensamos (No ficción)
Roca Editorial
The new book by Gabriel J. Martín, author of Quiérete mucho, maricón.
A book to train and improve the emotional health of gay men.
Both "emotional intelligence" and "resilience" are controversial concepts within academic psychology but widely used in self-help books. This work, from start to finish, takes on the challenge of balancing rigor with everyday usefulness.
Gay men are one of the groups that face the greatest emotional demands throughout life. It is necessary to train our resilience well to leave behind the marks of homophobic bullying and discrimination. But we also need good management of our emotions when coming out or to overcome the shame that crushes our self-esteem. Who hasn’t felt guilty every time they step outside the paths marked by normative sexuality? Who doesn’t live with anxiety about STIs? Who isn’t overwhelmed by pain every time they return to their childhood neighborhood? Do we know how to handle love, or do we dive headfirst on the first date... or run away from commitment for fear of being hurt? Who hasn’t felt that their emotions and feelings control them and they can do nothing to stop it?
The most recent research provides us with useful and proven tools to manage these emotions in the most beneficial way for all of us. We will be able to train our individual resilience and strengthen our community resilience.
In this book, we will learn how not to let shame crush us, how not to let guilt repress us, how not to let pain uproot us, how not to let anxiety limit us, how to make love authentic, joy more lasting, and our serenity much more present.
